From Mondegreen to Malapropism

I don’t know if I have ever mentioned that my most viewed website would happen to be reference.com. I go on there at least 4 times a day. Why? Well when I am talking to people, I hate using the same words over and over again. Or people will use words I’m not familiar with and I have to know what they are saying. I even do it sometimes when I’m on the phone with people. Someone once said to me that this is cheating. Well that’s fine. I’ll be a cheater.

Well today they had an article posted today about Mondegreens. If you have never heard of this, then you are like me earlier today. I had never heard of it either. Turns out, when you hear a song or something and for years you think that it says one thing but it really says another, that’s called a mondegreen.

Apparently when you intentionally use the wrong wordage in a poem or song or whatever else, it is called malapropism. Man, it’s funny how I sound like I know what I’m talking about.
Anyways, I have found that I am guilty of malapropism sometimes. Sometimes I think a song says one thing and then when I find out it’s something different, I continue on with my wording of the song. Sometimes the song means more to me with my own words in it.

I would like to think that this would be of no offense to the artist, but sometimes artists are so tempermental. But in my mind, I would like to think that the artist would want people to be affected by their art in their own way, not just only in the artists way. At least I do whenever I do something artistic. But then again, I’m not the world.

This is another post that I don’t know how to end. So, yeah.
