April Fool’s Day

Now that it’s not April Fool’s Day, I feel like I can talk about it with people taking me seriously. Well, however much of an amount that they do take me seriously.

I’ve never really understood April Fool’s Day, but I’ve never really understood pranks in general. That being said, there really is no reason for me to look it up. So sorry, there will be no history of April Fool’s on here. I’m sure it has something to do with poor people and jesters and dragons eating jesters, because those are the only things that make a “History of…” story great.

I’ve never really understood what is the point of pranking.
From what I gather the point of pranking someone is to embarrass and/or hurt them, often publicly, for others amusement and pleasure. How is that funny? It seems a bit like bullying. It’s definitely not funny to the person they did it to. Now obviously there are some weird people out there who get strange kicks out of having pranks pulled on them, Great. You’re weird.

Anyways, when I was about 7, I decided to pull off an April Fools Joke on my parents. So, I went in their bedroom while they were just waking up and I told them that I wanted to take a picture of them. Of course they said okay. Well it was a fake camera that squirted out water when you pressed the button.
They were not amused. Also, I’m pretty sure that they knew I was up to something seeing as the camera was clearly plastic. Something I got out of a McDonald’s Happy Meal.

So maybe it’s not only that I don’t understand pranks, or find them funny, I’m sure someone could argue that the reason I don’t like pranks or April Fool’s Day is the fact that I am bad at pulling pranks.
I’m okay with that. Also, no one tried to prank me yesterday, so whatever.
